Something Had To Go Wrong

Hour one in Berlin - loses passport.

I can confirm, there is no worse feeling than getting to boarder control and realising you're that dick who leaves their passport on the plane.

Waiting to the side, in the empty passport office for whether it had been found in the quick sweep done on the plane. A police officer asked me if I had a photo of my ID for them to cross reference with their records, leaving me frantically searching for a picture on my phone. I finally found one and took some deep breathes and refrained from crying. I cleared passport control and walked towards the metro. I called EasyJet asking what to do, they said to go back to the EasyJet desk and see if anything was handed in. As I approached the front of the A entrance doors I recognised one of the security guards who was walking through the door, holding a passport, speaking to someone on the phone, looking around frantically. I caught his eye and pointed to the passport and then to me, I beamed and shouted “Happy Guerbertstag to me!” Thanked the guard and ran off towards the metro and into Berlin.
